Avada Kedavra, also known as the killing curse, is an Unforgivable Curse in Hogwarts Legacy. It kills an enemy instantly; it cannot be blocked and will break any Shield Charm.
This spell can be learned from Sebastian Sallow during the relationship quest In the Shadow of the Relic, but Sebastian's offer can be declined. Depending on choices made during subsequent quests involving Sebastian, the player may get a second chance to learn the spell later if they change their mind.
Avada Kedavra can be used in the Dark Arts Battle Arena even if it has not been learned. This arena is only available as part of the Dark Arts Pack.

- Avada Kedavra Mastery: Killing an enemy with Avada Kedavra kills all cursed enemies. The primary target does not have to be cursed. Does not effect targets Avada Kedavra is not able to harm.
- Curse Sapper: Defeating a cursed enemy restores a small portion of your health.
Trivia[]
- Avada Kedavra has a 90 second base cooldown.
- Multi-Stage Bosses cannot be killed instantly by Avada Kedavra, as their health is capped for different stages (health bar divided into segments). Casting the curse on them will only clear a segment of their health and trigger boss fight stage events.
- Like other Unforgivable Curse, it can only be casted on hostile targets and training dummies (appear in red at Revelio) that the caster is allowed to kill. (e.g Casting on a target to be subdued is not allowed).
- In accordance with Lore, it cannot harm non-livings target, such as Inferius as they are reanimated corpse, or pensieve guards as they are enchanted armours, even though casting on them is allowed.
- Lesser human enemies will panic briefly, when they witness death from Avada Kedavra. Enemies or alliance character will occasionally comment about it.
- It will eliminate Animagus in their beast form, while in most case depleting their health in beast form will only revert them back to human.
