Helen Thistlewood is a retired Auror in Hogwarts Legacy.
Biography[]
Helen grew up with her brother Eddie in Brocburrow but while her brother stayed in their hamlet and went on to run a small shop there, Helen decided she wanted to become an Auror and after graduating, left for the Ministry in London.
She had a fulfilling career there as an Auror, though had some cases she was never able to really solve. In particular, when the ghost of a Hogwarts student, Richard Jackdaw, suddenly appeared but then ran off, Apollonia Black accused under the flimsiest of excuses that Richard's romantic interest, Anne Thisbe, had done it. The Black family's name, combined with Anne being a muggle-born, all but sealed her fate and Anne was sentenced to Azkaban and she went on to blame Helen for not proving her innocence.
Years later, Helen was eventually forced into an early retirement and she moved back to the general Hogwarts area, settling down in Upper Hogsfield. She began to write up her memoirs of her life as an Auror while attempting to take up gardening but eventually realized that too much time on her hands made her dwell on the past and possible mistakes she made in her career. She then resolved to find another hobby as gardening proved not to be her thing.
- Prisoner of Love (Hufflepuff-specific): In the late 19th century, Helen's great-uncle's portrait, which was in both her home and the Hufflepuff common room, got word that the new fifth-year student at Hogwarts had come across a mysterious book with links to the missing map pages. When Eldritch mentioned this to his great-niece, Helen realized this was likely the book related to Anne Thisbe's case and asked for the student to meet up with her. Believing Anne likely solved the puzzle that Richard had left behind for her before he died, Helen asked the student to come with her to Azkaban in the hopes by mentioning the missing map pages, Anne would reveal enough information to solve her case. On arriving there, Helen hid out of sight as the student talked to the addled Anne, who revealed the location where the clue should be. Anne then called out to Helen, knowing she was there, and Helen approached, only for Anne to strike her. Badly injured, Helen quickly disapparated the student and herself out of the prison and back to her home before quickly apparating off, likely to St. Mungo's, to be healed. Despite the injury, knowing this was due to Azkaban's toll on one's mental state, Helen worked towards trying to clear Anne's name.
