Lodgok is a goblin who appears in Hogwarts Legacy and is Ranrok's younger brother.
Biography[]
Rebellion years[]
At one point he shared Ranrok's views and supported his older brother's rebellion to the point Ranrok sent Lodgok to recover some of their ancestor Bragbor's journals, which noted several talented witches and wizards centuries ago had commissioned him to build several repositories. Believing these repositories would further his cause, Ranrok sent Lodgok to investigate Rookwood Castle, a possible location for one of them.
Lodgok went, expecting to find it deserted, but instead ran into a witch, Miriam, who'd already setup her own research site there. When she noticed Lodgok, instead of viewing him with fear or disdain, she warmly welcomed him as an equal, asking him to come sit with her. As Lodgok did, she showed him an oddly shaped cylinder with a strange shape on it, noting it was likely made of goblin metal but couldn't get it to open and wanted to work together. As Lodgok listened to her talk, it became clear to him Miriam viewed goblins with respect. Having never before been treated so nicely by a witch or wizard, Lodgok let her continue studying the container if she'd let him search the castle on his own. When they parted ways, she promised to share with him what she'd learned from the object. Shortly after, more of Ranrok's followers appeared and they began to dig, eventually finding the repository there. Despite Ranrok being pleased at this, when he learned of Miriam and that Lodgok had trusted her, he became furious.
Lodgok later heard Miriam had been killed and while he didn't want to believe it, felt Ranrok had played a part in her death. Combined with seeing how Ranrok had changed in front of them from the repository's power, and likewise was transforming the other followers, Lodgok's views shifted and he realized he could no longer be part of their rebellion and left, including keeping secret that he had found the journal that told the location of the fifth and final repository.
Working against Ranrok[]
He later visited Sirona, a friend of his he hadn't seen in years, at The Three Broomsticks. As he was leaving, he saw a Hogwarts student entering the establishment. Some time later, while he was hanging out at the Hog's Head, he was approached by the student for assistance in finding out what Ranrok was up. Lodgok realized the only way to do this was to get his brother's trust back and figured recovering the famed Helmet of Urtkot from a dark witch's tomb would be just the thing as the helmet symbolized unity between all the goblin clans. He had the student help retrieve it, but ran into an unfortunate snag where some of Victor Rookwood's men, also wishing to gain Ranrok's favor, had gotten to it first. The student managed to recover it from the gang for Lodgok who then took it to Ranrok. However his brother, having already heard how the helmet had been with Rookwood's gang before a student stole it, caused him to suspect Lodgok and the student had worked together in that regard.
Still determined to stop his brother, Lodgok then came up with another idea to find out what Ranrok was planning, this time by having the student and a fellow classmate of theirs who could read Gobbledegook infiltrate a Ranrok controlled mine to look around for plans. From this, the students determined Ranrok was building a very large drilling machine, undoubtedly to get to the repositories. Lodgok then filled in the student about Bragbor's journals, Miriam, and his suspicions that his own brother had killed her. He then decided to set out on his own, to try once more to try and reason with his brother, though if that should fail, he'd give the journal his brother was trying to find over to the student so they'd know where the last repository was.
However, when Lodgok approached the mine his brother was at, he was discovered by Rookwood and brought in to face Ranrok, just as Ranrok was confronting the Hogwarts student for destroying one of his drilling machines. Unable to hide the journal, he reluctantly handed it over to Ranrok with the pretext he showed up to bring it to him. When Ranrok discovered it mentioned the last location and that it was below Hogwarts though, he realized his brother had known this information all along and hid it from him. Angry at this, Ranrok lashed out, calling Lodgok a traitor before hitting him with the corrupted form of Ancient Magic, killing him.
