Niamh Fitzgerald was a former Keeper and headmistress of Hogwarts in Hogwarts Legacy.
Biography[]
Fitzgerald attended Hogwarts, where she was sorted into Ravenclaw. Eventually she became the school's Headmistress.
At one point, she, along with her colleagues Charles Rookwood and San Bakar, joined Percival Rackham as a group known as the Keepers, who prioritized safeguarding Ancient Magic and which Rackham was able to see and utilize. While they were mostly focused on keeping it a secret, when they could, they'd use it to save others, which they did one day by going to a drought-stricken hamlet, Feldcroft, and reviving it.
Meeting Isidora[]
Years after saving Feldcroft, the group was informed by Rookwood he had been approached by a new fifth-year student, Isidora Morganach, asking about the strange swirls she saw as as child that day they saved her hamlet. The group then met with Isidora and informed her about them being Keepers and that Rackham could train her on how to use ancient magic.
Sometime after Isidora had graduated and started to travel around, the Defence Against the Dark Arts teaching position opened up and Isidora accepted the position. Fitzgerald and the rest of the Keepers warmly welcomed her back from her travels and where they were invited back to Isidora's place that evening to talk more about her travels. However, when they went to visit, Isidora brought out her father, noting how he hadn't spoken a word since losing his son during the drought. Isidora then revealed she learned how to remove pain from others using ancient magic, before doing so on her father. While Fitzgerald was astonished at the outcome, Rackham was immediately apprehensive, noting what he was seeing wasn't like typical ancient magic.
Later on, Isidora approached Fitzgerald, and while the Headmistress noted it was amazing at what she did for Isidora's father, it was too soon for them to know the long-term effects of such and, more importantly, if they should be doing so. This appeared to only push Isidora though, who noted every time she did it, it seemed like her powers grew stronger and tried to argue this is what ancient magic should be used for. Isidora then tried to do the same on Fitzgerald without permission, though Fitzgerald quickly stopped Isidora before she could cause any unintended damage.
Confronting Isidora[]
Sometime later, Fitzgerald learned from Rackham and Bakar that Isidora had gone too far and the effects were troubling: her father appeared to be devoid of all emotions and they'd learned she'd been using the same magic on students. The group then went to confront Isidora in the caverns below the school and where Isidora had a repository built to hold all the painful emotions she'd pulled from the students. Rackham ordered her to stand down, but Isidora refused, believing ancient magic could do so much good for the world using her methods. When Rackham tried to disarm her, Isidora blasted them all, knocking Fitzgerald out in the process.
Later years[]
Fitzgerald recovered and, with Isidora dead, the group knew eventually another with the same rare ability to see and use ancient magic would come along, and decided to setup a path for them to follow to guide them. For her trial, Fitzgerald created a special book that would let one access her memories with Isidora. She then left this book in the headteacher's office, with the idea being that when the time came, the headteacher in charge would help out.
