Poached Egg is Poppy Sweeting's second relationship quest in Hogwarts Legacy. It is received when she sends an Owl Post reporting that she has tracked down the location of the Hebridean Black Dragon.
Objectives[]
"Poppy sent me an owl saying she knows where we need to return the dragon egg we have in our possession. I'm to meet her in Hogsmeade's town circle."
- Talk to Poppy in Hogsmeade town circle
"Poppy was able to track the dragon we freed to this location. Her nest should be straight ahead."
- Find the dragon's nest
"The dragon sees us, no use in hiding. There must be a way to return the egg without harming her."
- Get past the dragon and closer to her nest
"Getting past the dragon was no easy task. Just a bit further and we can return her egg."
- Place the egg in its nest
"Poppy and I successfully returned the dragon egg. I wanted to take a moment to catch my breath before leaving."
- Talk to Poppy to leave
Conclusion[]
"Poppy and I freed a dragon from Horntail Hall, a dragon fighting ring organized by Rookwood's Poacher Pack. Though the dragon was able to escape, she unknowingly left behind her egg which we were able to return to her."
Notes[]
- Poppy takes you to an unspecified location, and the map is unavailable for the remainder of the quest.
- The dragon has a keen sense of smell, making Disillusionment and Invisibility Potions useless.
- To get past the dragon, it is necessary to run from one low stone wall to the next; your character will automatically duck behind each one upon reaching it.
- The final objective appears only if you tell Poppy you're not ready to leave yet; this gives you a chance to backtrack and look for treasure chests.
- A Poacher Letter can be found near the nest.
Bugs[]
- Poppy may not follow you along the path to the dragon, remaining stuck at the beginning. Dialogue will continue as normal, but you'll only hear your end of it, not hers. She will rejoin you once you reach the low stone walls. It's possible this is a result of saving and reloading during the relevant part of the quest.
