Richard Jackdaw was a young wizard who died and came back as a ghost in Hogwarts Legacy.
Biography[]
Richard attended Hogwarts and was known to be a heartbreaker. While he had shown interest in Apollonia Black, Apollonia showed no interest in him. He later on wooed and fell in love with Anne Thisbe.
During his schooling, Richard worked as an assistant at Ollivanders' Hogsmeade's shop but he mistook the Ollivanders' pride in their family heirloom wand as meaning the wand had special qualities and stole it and ran off. He soon learned it wasn't anymore special than a regular wand and intended to return it at a later time once he finished following a map he had "stolen" from Peeves. He invited Anne to join him by promising her adventure but only after she solved a series of puzzles he set up. However, she never showed up and he became upset, thinking she had blown him off. He continued on without her, following the map into the cave, but just as he got into the central part, his head was suddenly cut off, killing him instantly.
Soon after, he returned as a ghost that was briefly seen in Hogsmeade, but then disappeared just as quickly from the area, traveling around the world to try and mend his broken heart over Anne. By the late 19th century, he returned to the area on a whim.
- Prisoner of Love (Hufflepuff-specific): On returning and finding someone had finally solved the puzzle he had originally setup for Anne, he came across the new fifth-year student, who informed him that because his ghost had ran off so quickly after dying, he wasn't around to note how he was killed. Taking advantage of this, Apollonia, while she didn't have any interest in Richard but was nonetheless jealous that he'd taken interest in someone else, falsely accused Anne of Richard's death. After being informed that Anne had then been sentenced to Azkaban over this, Richard asked to speak to the auror that had taken on Anne's case to set things right after showing the student the entrance to the cave he had died in.

- Richard's full story is split across 4 different quests unique to each house on the way to finding the Map Chamber, so in some cases he may not even be made aware what happened to Anne.
