San Bakar was a former Keeper and Hogwarts professor in Hogwarts Legacy.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Bakar was born in Yemen but once he learned of his magical abilities, he left his Muggle community and made his way to Hogwarts, where he was sorted into Slytherin. Sometime after he graduated, he became the Beasts Professor at his alma mater.
Adult life[]
At one point he was made aware of Ancient Magic and, alongside Headmistress Niamh Fitzgerald and Professor Charles Rookwood, joined Professor Percival Rackham as a group known as the Keepers, with their focus on guarding ancient magic and that which Rackham could see and utilize. While their primary purpose was to safeguard it, they also used it when possible to save others. In one such case, the group went to Feldcroft, a small hamlet that was suffering from a drought, and brought it back to life with ancient magic.
Years later, Bakar and the rest of the Keepers were informed by Rookwood that their new fifth-year student, Isidora Morganach, had asked him about the strange swirls she saw that day they saved her hamlet. Realizing she could see ancient magic, the group took her in and Rackham trained her on how to use it.
Dealing with Isidora[]
After Isidora graduated and traveled for a bit, she came back to Hogwarts, this time joining her former professors as one of their own, having accepted the position of Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. Bakar and the rest warmly welcomed her back as she invited them back to her family's home that evening to talk about her travels. When they arrived though, Isidora brought out her father, who hadn't spoke a word since losing his son due to the drought. She then revealed that during her travels, she had figured out how to remove pain from others and did so in front of them on her father, who spoke aloud his thanks to Isidora. Bakar was rather astonished at this, though Rackam was immediately apprehensive, remarking the traces he was seeing wasn't ancient magic but something else. Sometime later, as things began to feel more and more strained between the Keepers and Isidora, Bakar went by Isidora's home to speak to her. However, while she wasn't there, her father was but Bakar soon became aware something was seriously amiss after seeing Mr. Morganach's face, which looked not just void of pain but all emotions. Bakar quickly made his way back to the school to warn the others and found Rackham. After filling in his colleague about what he saw at Isidora's place, Rackham noted they had to get the rest as this time Isidora had gone too far, having just learned Isidora had been doing the same to students.
The Keepers then made their way to the caverns below the school, where Isidora had a repository built to hold all the pain she'd been extracting from students. On finding a student here that Isidora no doubt had tried to "heal", Bakar firmly instructed the student to get back to their common room before following the rest to confront Isidora. However, when Isidora appeared, she refused to stand down, believing they should use ancient magic to remove pain. Rackham then tried to disarm her but Isidora deflected this before blasting the group, knocking Bakar off his feet. As Rackham tried to hold off Isidora, later joined by Rookwood, Bakar went to check on Fitzgerald. However, seeing the others losing the fight to hold back Isidora, Bakar cast the killing curse, killing Isidora and immediately ending the duel. He then checked and saw Fitzgerald was still alive, just knocked out.
Later years[]
After having dealt with Isidora, the Keepers tried to get rid of the repository but nothing they did would let them safely destroy it. Thus, they had to take on a new role, not only safeguarding ancient magic, but now to also keep the final repository under the school a secret. Knowing someone with the same rare ability with ancient magic may come along, the Keepers decided to set up steps for them to go through to show them their story and guide them. As part of these trials, Bakar set his trial up based on his area of expertise: beasts. In this case, the one who came along would have to subdue a graphorn and get its help to open the way to his memories.
