Scrope is Phineas Nigellus Black's personal house-elf in Hogwarts Legacy.
Biography[]
Scrope served the Black family for many years, having originally served Apollonia Black when she was a student at Hogwarts sometime prior to the 1840s. While she attended school, Scrope noticed another student, Richard Jackdaw, was trying to vie for Apollonia's attention and which Scrope strongly disapproved of, as did Apollonia. While a student, she also setup her own personal grotto near the school but forbade Scrope from entering it.
On several occasions Apollonia became frustrated with Scrope, threatening to cut his head off and have it join the other house-elf heads on a wall in her family's home. One particular time she got too close with a cleaver and Scrope lost one of his ears but he managed to convince her he was still useful to her and was spared from having his head cut off. His service to her ended as, near the end of Apollonia's life, she became delirious and mistook belladonna for elderberries and, despite Scrope's warning, she ate the poisonous plant. After her death, Scrope then passed to Phineas Nigellus Black. With Phineas serving as Hogwarts' headmaster, he took Scrope with him so while Scrope helped out somewhat around the school, his primary focus was serving Phineas and doing his master's bidding, like cleaning Phineas' personal head bust.
Scrope also didn't appear to have very friendly relations with the school's house-elves, like Feenky, as he'd sometimes sneak into the school's kitchen to take a morsel rather than just asking, but Feenky and the rest were tactful and just looked the other way when he did so.
