Unicorns are one of the beasts found in Hogwarts Legacy.
Description[]
- The Unicorn is a shy and beautiful equine beast that sports a horn from its head. The foals are said to have shimmering golden coats.
Capturing[]
Unicorns are quite easy to obtain, despite the fact that they require 6 cycles with the nab-sack to capture.
Cast Disillusionment and approach the unicorn. Once close enough that the beast is about to notice you, cast Levioso. Then, immediately start capturing with the nab-sack. Levioso may need to be re-cast if the unicorn manages to get away, but this beast can be captured in 1 attempt if timed properly. Alternatively, you don't need to sneak up with disillusionment, make sure to have Arresto Momentum and Glacius unlocked & equipped. Sprint close up to the unicorn and cast Arresto or Glacius from range to stop its movement to close the gap, once beside it, cast the other spell and it will freeze and fall over, start capturing immediately and it will work 100% of the time even if it gets up, it won't have enough time to run away.
After capturing a unicorn, it can be sold to Brood and Peck in Hogsmeade, added into the player's Vivarium, or released into the wild.
Colors[]
Unicorns come in 2 colors: a standard white and a rare (shiny) gold. Offspring will only appear as gold (which is similar to the adult "shiny" color). Offspring can also bear the shiny star mark, but are still the same color as standard offspring.
There's a unique color exclusive to Hazel the Unicorn which is a brighter white than standard unicorns.

Notes[]
- Unicorns prefer the Unpoppable Bubble toy from the Beast Toybox.
- After breeding a pair, it takes 30 minutes for a unicorn offspring to appear.
- Regardless if an adult or offspring, a unicorn with the nurtured status will give 3 Unicorn Hair.
- If having difficulties capturing a unicorn, one can immediately capture beasts if the game's difficulty level is set to "story" mode, bypassing the mini-game. This makes harvesting entire nests of smaller creatures much faster and more profitable.
- Unicorns don't get along with thestrals if they are placed in the same vivarium. However this doesn't affect the amount of materials players nurtures from either beasts.
